About WEDF

The Washington Economic Development Foundation serves Washington Parish Louisiana, located on the Mississippi / Louisiana border in Southeast Louisiana, population 43,926. We provide information and assistance for businesses seeking to locate or expand operations. Washington Parish has two business parks and numerous sites with infrastructure including rail and locations on major highways with easy access to Interstate Highways 55, 59, 10 and 12.

Washington Parish is one of the southern parishes of Louisiana and covers an area of 676 square miles. The Mississippi state line is on the east and north borders of our parish. Its western boundary is Tangipahoa Parish and the southern boundary is St. Tammany Parish. The proximity of the parish, sixty miles from New Orleans, eighty miles from Baton Rouge, 120 miles to Jackson Mississippi, and 136 miles to Mobile, Alabama allows access to the major cities and affords industry with a wide range of opportunities for markets and transportation. Our Mission

The primary goal of the WEDF is to facilitate an intensive program of economic and industrial development in an effort to create new job opportunities for the people of Washington Parish.

WEDF was established on May 8, 1981, as a private nonprofit, tax-exempt foundation. It is supported by the residents of Washington Parish, Louisiana, through membership subscriptions. WEDF serves as the principal business recruitment and economic development agency for Washington Parish. We look forward to the opportunity of answering your questions and assisting you.
